You frequently hope to observe wildlife when trekking. Observing animals acting naturally in their environment is usually interesting.
It’s among the enjoyable aspects of trekking.
But what you wouldn’t expect to see is an abandoned mother dog that is seven months pregnant.
Unfortunately, one couple who was out trekking did discover that, and it appeared that they had come at the perfect time. The dog was in labor.
The pit bull mom, a shy one, was absolutely worn out and underweight. She had no faith in anybody.
Thom McCallum, though, was adamant on giving her a better life.
Thom brought mama, her three infants, and their “new digs” home with him. The puppies, who could hardly even open their eyes, were incredibly little.
Thom had a ton of work to complete.
Mom, whom Thom named Ruby, didn’t take to her new owner right away.
Nobody knows for sure what she may have gone through in the past, but if her prior carer had abandoned her, she would have completely lost faith in people.
Mom nevertheless refused to allow her worries interfere with her parental responsibilities. She took “amazing” care of her infants, who were mostly slept throughout their first several weeks of life.
Thom would spend time with Ruby alone while the puppies napped in order to get to know her better and earn her trust.
He stroked her, spoke soothingly in her ear, and made an effort to play with her, but she was still a little too shy to engage in a game of fetch.
Ruby’s puppies were finally standing and moving around by the 20th day Thom had been fostering them.
It was now evident that all three puppies were going to be a challenge, so Thom had his job cut out for him.
It wouldn’t be long until Thom took the puppies on their first-ever walk. He secured them to their own miniature puppy cart while their mother followed closely behind.
Thom would undoubtedly have encountered a few enthusiastic onlookers along the way. He was just too cute with his “truck load of pups.”
The dogs were prepared to play outside in Thom’s yard, in his opinion.
Although Mama Ruby adored the outdoors, she preferred to hang out with Thom. She was now his biggest supporter despite her earlier reluctance to confide in him.
Ruby is not letting me go. Thom acknowledged, “She travels with me everywhere.
The pups got bigger as the days went by, and Ruby was also growing — in self-assurance. For Thom, it was incredible to witness.
The wonderful news that all three puppies had been adopted was immediately announced by Thom.
The neighbor who lives next door to Thom actually adopted one of the puppies, Tito, and he put a gate in his back fence so that mom could still visit her kid whenever she wanted to.
Thom said that Ruby has already returned home.
The brave mother has been permanently adopted by him, and he intends to care for her throughout the rest of his life. Added him:
She doesn’t need to travel anyplace, in my opinion. She enjoys being here. I adore her and believe that I am the finest place for her to live.
