When they were saved in Phoenix, Arizona, two kittens were malnourished and hurt. After a few days of the poor kittens being outside with no sign of their mother cat nearby, some worried bystanders contacted Melinda Blain, co-founder of Bottle Baby Fosters, about their plight. The tiny furballs were then immediately rescued. “The tortie girl weighed only 85 grams, compared to her 120-gram brother. At five days old, she weighed the same as an underweight newborn, Melinda told Love Meow. It was obvious that without each other’s company, the two would not have made it through the ordeal. For the most part, they kept each other alive during their days and nights of abandonment. The two cried nonstop for each other’s presence whenever they were apart because they were accustomed to being by each other’s sides. The ginger was given the name Buddha, and the tortie was given the name Bonsai.
After a day of being well-fed and well-rested, Bonsai showed a huge improvement, and she gained 15 grams right away. With his sister by his side at all times, Buddha displayed a great fighting spirit despite having severe wounds on his legs. Even as they aged, they remained close and continued to explore their surroundings together. They are loved, cared for, and, most importantly, they survived together, so right now they couldn’t be happier.
