Goliath, a shelter dog, experienced exactly what you describe.
“A family was backing up a U-Haul at the Reversed Rescue’s front gate. He told dog film maker and pet rescue advocate Rocky Kanaka that he lifted it up and “popped him out, and they were turning him in.”

He touched various toys with his nose, including a plush elephant that they immediately placed in a shopping cart.
When he touched a case of canned dog food lying on the store floor, Kanaka added it to their expanding cart of pet supplies.
Goliath can be seen running around the supermarket, going through each aisle, with excitement.
The Great Dane also went straight for the dog bones and picked out the largest bone that was appropriate for his size.
Kanaka assisted him by providing him with a variety of bones to chose from. The biscuit aisle, where the dog goodies were on display, was their next destination. Goliath began consuming cookies directly from the jar.
Goliath was about to receive the greatest and best surprise of the day, but he was unaware of it.
He was about to learn who would adopt him.
Kanaka questioned Triis about the adoption of Goliath. I am, Triis said in response. I am unable to let him go.

Santa and Goliath played with each other for a short while. Goliath received a pet and treats from Santa.
Goliath was then informed by Santa Claus that he had “a lovely surprise for you.”
Triis entered the room as the curtain parted.
Goliath approached him right away and hugged him. You can see the love and devotion that Goliath and his previous rescuer—now owner—share.
