Poor dog that was kept on a short chain for a long time is finally rescued

There are many individuals that treat dogs like they are their own children, but there are some who terribly mistreat animals.

Cala, a guard dog kept by a mechanic in San Jose, Costa Rica, is one of those unfortunate puppies. She was kept chained up by her owner on a short chain, which prohibited her from resting her head and restricted her ability to breathe. When she was ill, the owner didn’t take her to the vet and hardly ever fed her. Fortunately, Cala’s suffering ended.

The Territorio de Zaguates animal sanctuary and the police were both called by frightened neighbors who learned of her living situation. When Cala was eventually saved, she needed to be treated for malnutrition, wounds, and emaciation.

The first picture I saw of her showed a dog whose spirit had been crushed and was merely waiting for the death to come while living a never-ending nightmare. Lya Battle, the author of Territorio de Zaguates, said.

She referred to the slow healing of her wounds as “the people around her still had to bring her misery via the fixing of her wounds, particularly the cut in her neck made by years of hanging from a tight metal chain around her neck.”

Even after she was saved, people continued to treat Cala badly. In June, someone broke into the dog sanctuary with the intention of poisoning some of the animals.

This tough pup survived even though 16 of the dogs did not. Although Cala had some neurological problems, according to Battle, these were probably partly brought on by her size, and her health has now recovered.

Cala has since moved in with a loving home and developed social skills with both humans and other dogs.

“After years of abuse, neglect, and incarceration, Cala seems to be getting rid of all the puppy misbehaving things, and we all think that’s just amazing. Battle stated, “This rescue is an epic struggle between love and hatred, between good and evil, and love always triumphs in the end. She is content, strong, resolute, a little obstinate, and spoiled by her foster mother and family.
