Gaspar, a wonderful dog, lived a happy life full of joy and love, but sadly passed away from an illness in the warm company of the people he loved the most.
“I value all of the time we spent together. Marcelo Rodriguez, Gaspar’s owner, dedicated a poem to his dog, saying, “You will always be with us.
However, the most heartfelt remembrance of that cherished dog required no words at all.
Even though Gaspar shared a house with Rodrguez, he preferred Kaya, Rodrguez’s mother’s dog.
“We would get them together on the weekends to spend time together,” Rodriguez says. “It was the start of their friendship.” Their nonstop tail-wagging excitement revealed Gaspar and Kaya’s relationship. Their love, however, evidently extended even further.
Unfortunately, as with all good things, Gaspar and Kaya’s relationship was short-lived. Gaspar died earlier this month after suffering from kidney failure. Because she knew how much her old friend meant to her, Kaya was given the opportunity to say her final goodbyes to him before his body was interred in Rodriguez’s backyard. Nobody could have predicted what happened next, however.
Kaya climbed on the brand-new mound of earth marking Gaspar’s final resting place as a final act of love for the soul she cherished so much. According to Rodriguez, she then spent the entire morning on top of his grave. Kaya can still feel Gaspar’s spirit despite his death. However, not only in hers. Rodrguez’s tweet about Kaya’s thoughtful gesture for Gaspar quickly went viral, garnering over 100,000 likes and retweets. Many commenters were moved to tears after hearing the dog’s moving farewell.
Kaya had a quiet moment at Gaspar’s grave, but it left an impression on her. According to Rodriguez, “animals are superior beings that humans will never understand and that we do not deserve.”
