‘Patient’ cat meets puppies for the first time

We’ve all heard that cats and dogs simply can’t get along — they’re just too different. But time and time again, dogs and cats have proven this just isn’t true. These animals can get along as well any one.

And sometimes, they can even become good friends. Just like the cat and puppies in this video!

The tiny six-week-old puppies are curious about the cat, and they lick him, bat at his tail, and sniff him. Finn is completely calm while the puppies examine him.

Finn remains calm, cool, and collected while one of the rambunctious puppies licks his chin. And Finn doesn’t run away when both puppies start licking him and jumping on him.

Finn seems to know that the puppies don’t mean any harm—they just want to learn more about their new friend. Finn is clearly a very patient cat!

In the YouTube comments for the video, some people worried that Finn felt threatened by the puppies.

But Finn didn’t show any signs of anger or nervousness.

According to I Heart Cats, if Finn was angry or scared, he would have started hissing or growling. His body language would have also changed. He would have arched his back, raised his tail, and flattened his ears. He may have also swatted at the puppies with his paw.

Finn’s eyes may have also dilated if he was upset:

“Dilated or constricted pupils can both indicate anger. Eye signals can be exceptionally hard to read because your cat’s eyes can be affected by so many factors. For instance, the amount your cat’s pupils are dilated can help determine if your cat is angry, but her eyes can also dilate to adjust to the amount of light in the room,” I Heart Cats wrote.

Finn didn’t show any of these signs of aggression when dealing with the puppies.

One of the reasons why Finn wasn’t bothered by the puppies’ antics is because he has a lot of practice dealing with dogs.

Finn lives with a Great Pyrenees/Siberian Husky mix named Jetta and a St. Bernard/Mastiff/Rottweiler mix named Gracie. Finn also has a cat sibling named Frankie.

On her YouTube channel, the animals’ owner shares videos of the pups and cats.

One sweet video shows Jetta asking Finn and Frankie to give her a nose wash. They happily oblige, and the result is one sweet video.
