Howie Mandel opens up on his condition

We’re keeping Howie in our prayers and thoughts.

Positivism and laughter are the first things that come to mind while discussing Howie Mandel.

IMDb claims that he entered the entertainment industry entirely by accident. During a vacation, his pals persuaded him to try it out at an amateur night at the Comedy Store on the L.A. Sunset Strip. A producer saw him there.

Mandel is currently one of the most well-known figures in the entertainment industry. Mandel has excelled in a variety of roles, including those of a popular game show panelist and presenter, playwright, actor, producer, director, and TV star.

However, he has made the decision to be open about his mental health and acknowledged that he has struggled with anxiety, ADHD, and OCD for most of his life. In actuality, nobody can genuinely assume that Mandel, who is so entertaining, could be going through such a thing.

“I’m living a nightmare,” he exclaimed. To ground myself, I strive. I have a beautiful family and I adore what I do. I can, however, also go through really bad sadness from which I never get over it.

When we were put on lockdown because to the COVID-19 epidemic, this got even worse. According to Mandel, there was never a day when the notion “we would die” didn’t cross his mind. But he took solace in the fact that nobody in his immediate vicinity was harmed.

Mandal is aware that he has had OCD and ADHD his entire life despite only receiving a diagnosis in his thirties. However, he kept his mental health a secret because he thought it would harm his profession. He acknowledged, “My first thought was that I’ve embarrassed my family.” “I then came to the realization that no one would employ someone who was unstable. Those were my main worries.

He found comfort in comedy at his most trying moments.

Finding the funny is how I deal with things, he said. “I’m probably crying if I’m not grinning. And I’ve refrained from describing how dark and dreadful it actually becomes. Comedy kind of saved me. On stage, I’m at ease a lot. And I withdraw when I have nothing to do, which is not good.

Mandel wants to reduce stigma and increase awareness of mental illness.
