He fulfilled his last wish

When someone is about to say their last goodbye, they want to do it in front of those that hold the most meaning for them.

When he learned that his time on Earth was limited, New Mexico citizen and military veteran John Vincent took that action. He made sure he got to say his last goodbyes and spend one more moment with his animal pal.

John first met Patch, his obedient puppy.

John was initially born in Montana and spent the majority of his boyhood on a ranch, as was described in the Albuquerque Journal. Then, at a young age, he joined the Marines and spent three years in the service, including the Vietnam War.

He recalled his time in the military by saying, “I always went where the best went.

A generous neighbor who owned a dog that gave birth to a litter of lovely puppies handed him Patch, a Yorkshire terrier.

“I wanted one that could ride on my bike, but he was the smallest. I had a patch of hair on my chin, which was the only place I had any. We were the patch brothers because he had a small white patch, the Vietnam War veteran said.

Since then, the two have enjoyed taking rides in John’s Harley, and Patch even owns a set of miniature goggles. The two frequently spent their nights outside when John retired to New Mexico.

Then something unexpected occurred.

For the many years that John and Patch shared a home, the only thing they could have wished for was time. John was eventually transported to the hospice facility due to his advanced age and deteriorating health, which also required him to part ways with his cherished dog.

He was forced to give Patch, who was five at the time, over to Albuquerque Animal Welfare. Unfortunately, due to his failing health, it had to be done. John made a special request to visit Patch one more time, but when he learned he didn’t have much time left, he changed his desire.

The social staff at the hospice center didn’t want to turn down this request, so they made every effort to fulfill it.

John got his dream to visit Patch one last time. To facilitate the reunion, the animal sanctuary transported the puppy to the hospice facility at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center.

That’s me, of course. That’s dad,” John remarked as Patch leaped onto his lap and kissed him. “Are you glad I’m here? I’m overjoyed to see you.

Everyone at the reunion was delighted to see John and Patch together once more.

When the request was made, Danny Nevarez, the director of Animal Welfare, said, “It was an immediate “yes,” and let’s do anything we can to make it happen.” “Getting Patch here was all that was necessary”

Patch was obviously excited to visit the hospice facility, as if he knew exactly who he would see there, according to Nevarez. But when he saw his former owner, he broke down in tears. In addition to missing John a lot, it appeared as though he sensed something was off.

Danny remarked, “Almost like he knew, he immediately started whimpering. Like he was anticipating something.

In the end, Patch was adopted by his new family, and we have no doubt that John was ecstatic to learn that his best friend would be safe.
