Golden retriever abandoned at beach with 46-pound tumor could barely

As if being a stray dog wasn’t difficult enough, this one had a family before being abandoned on a beach in Newport, California. He was carrying an extra 46 pounds due to a tumor developing on his side, which exacerbated his problems. A kind stranger spotted the dog, now known as Henry, strolling down the beach and alerted Valerie Schomburg of Newport Beach Animal Control. Nothing could have prepared the NBAC rescuers for Henry’s arrival, despite the fact that they were used to picking up strays in poor condition.

He couldn’t walk because the tumor was pressing against his right front leg near his shoulder. He had difficulty getting around and finding food. Despite all of the challenges he had faced in such a short period of time, Henry still had a zest for life. He adored everyone he met and was always happy and wagging his tail. Anyone who got close enough to Henry would be kissed.

Fortunately, Schomburg was able to raise enough funds, with the help of grants, for Henry to undergo surgery to remove the massive tumor. Despite the tumor’s cancerous nature, it did not spread.

The surgery was a success, and Henry felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. After the tumor was removed, he weighed 78 pounds and could finally walk around with ease. After his surgery, he went to live with a loving foster through the Newport Beach Animal Shelter and happily made up for lost time.

Henry rose to local fame after the media covered his story, and he now has fans all over the world. People from all over the world brought him gifts and snacks to express their gratitude for being moved by his story. Henry died peacefully while resting, but not before making the most of his time here and falling in love for the first time. His contagious smile and constant tail-wag indicated his boundless enthusiasm for life.

Although his death is heartbreaking, some good has come from it. After doing more research, they were able to track down Henry’s previous owner. Her criminal case is still pending after she was charged by the OC District Attorney’s Office.
