That is illustrated in this anecdote. Even after a stray dog was badly damaged by an automobile, she took excellent care of her young. She followed her babies about and made sure they were fed and cared for despite the fact that her leg was broken and walking was difficult, if not impossible.
The streets are a hazardous environment. especially on busy highways with plenty of moving traffic. Such streets force dogs to cross in search of shelter, food, and water. Many people are struck and sustain permanent damage. Strays are frequent in underdeveloped areas, and many of them are allowed to continue living even after suffering injuries.
When this mother dog was found by a rescue group, she persisted to nurse her pups despite the discomfort of sitting down. Given how frequently puppies are turned away, it was amazing that she never pushed them away! Despite having numerous injuries to her leg, Mama kissed her two puppies clean and followed them as they ran around.
Rescuers finally arrived, taking the small family to their clinic. Mama needed surgery, the veterinarian determined after taking x-rays. The rescue group had to pool all of its funds to cover this expensive expense. Thanks to donations, Mama had her surgery the following day. The puppies were watched over by volunteers and were acting very well-behaved.
Mama never complained about the procedure because it was successful. She took pain medication, but despite being tired and uncomfortable, she was a soldier! She had lived her entire life on the street, overlooked, and her new human friends were amazed that she was still so friendly and accepting.
When Mama was in recovery and her leg was in a cast, the pups were brought over to her. When they learned that their mother was secure, they were ecstatic. They embraced her after she kissed them and held her close. The young family slept throughout the night as volunteers stayed.
Soon, Mama and her children had to go into a foster home. She will stay there for a bit to heal, and after that, she and her puppies will be eligible for adoption.
