Distressing Cause Of Nine Month Old Puppy Sudden Seizures Discovered By Vet

Abbi Taylor loves her 9-month-old puppy Dixie, writes ilovemydogsomuch. She felt comfortable leaving the puppy alone in the family’s fenced yard while she ran some errands. Dixie loved walking around the yard, sniffing and waiting for her family to return.

Not long ago, Abby was at work and came home to find her beloved Dixie having one seizure after another. Taylor rushed her dog to the vet and received emergency treatment. But the seizures were just the beginning of a nightmare for Abby and her family. Because the family was not at home and there were no security cameras, they don’t know when the dog first showed signs of injury or how much pain she was in. The veterinarian at the hospital emergency room determined that Dixie had been shot three times with an air rifle. The bullets are called ,,Diablo” bullets and the sheriff said they are commonly used in airsoft guns. Dixie was in a fully fenced yard when she was shot and there was no sign of forced entry.

,,It’s scary to think that on a plot of land, especially in a small community, you have to worry about keeping your dogs outside.” Abbi explained. ,,Somebody got hit by something and they said ,,I’m going to put that dog down today.” You never know what’s going to happen.”

Abbi sought advice from several veterinarians, but due to her injuries and seizures, they decided to put her down peacefully. The Ada County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating who may have done this to an innocent puppy and her family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.

Our condolences to the Taylor family.
