Little Ashes has traveled much.
He has traversed America in Matthew B.’s 18-wheeler along with the latter.
They had been almost together for years and share a deep affection for one another, but tragedy struck last July when Ashes unintentionally exited the truck when Matthew was making a stop in Springfield, Ohio, and vanished.
Without success, Matthew looked everywhere for his traveling partner and pal. Ashes was far from home and had vanished without a trace.
As Matthew learned he would have to complete the voyage without Ashes, he was heartbroken.
Eventually, he drove away, but over the next months, he arranged his routes so that he would frequently return to the location where Ashes was last seen and be able to search for him.
He and Ashes both resisted giving up on hope.
Ashes was contributing by keeping himself alive while Matthew clung to the possibility of locating him once more.
