Investigators from the Michigan Humane Society were alerted after a concerned citizen found a malnourished dog in a trash can near 7 Mile and Southfield Road in Detroit.
When they came to rescue her, they found that she had just given birth. Ilovemydogsomuch writes that they searched for her cub in the area but unfortunately did not find it.
She is currently recovering at the shelter, but seems very sad without her children. As soon as she recovers, MHS will help her find her perfect forever home. In the meantime, the Humane Society refuses to give up the search for her puppies, but knows how difficult it will be, especially since the mother dog could come from anywhere, not just Detroit.
Most likely someone got rid of the mother after the birth of the dog and kept the puppies to sell. If anyone recognizes this dog or has information about the puppies or how they came to be in this state, please call the Michigan Humane Society at 313-872-3401.
