Owner refuses to let dog die and raises money to keep her life despite having a $20,000 vet bill.

What would you do to save the life of your pet? There is no ceiling for many pet owners; they have cobbled together the money to cover even the highest vet costs in order to keep their greatest buddy alive.

Recently, one guy was forced to sell his home in order to pay a massive $20,000 vet bill to preserve his cherished dog. Fortunately, a miracle took place in its place.

Owner of a 2-year-old Weimaraner named Rambo, Jaxon Feeley of Wigan, UK, recently went through the dread of any dog owner when Rambo developed a severe illness.

Feeley said that “she started throwing up throughout the night over 30 times, and by Saturday am we were in the emergency veterinarians.” Rambo developed gastroenteritis in addition to hypovolemic shock.

While the dog’s condition stabilized after several days in critical care, her medical expenses quickly grew in size.

“Rambo’s insurance has up to £6500 in coverage for her. After one week in care, her bill has increased to £11,500, according to Feeley. “How long Rambo will need to spend at the vet’s office is uncertain, and a day of critical care will cost about £1,000. If the worst happens and Rambo needs serious surgery, I need to be able to pay for it and provide for my little baby girl’s aftercare.

Feeley insisted that he would bear whatever expense necessary to provide his cherished cat the treatment she need, even if it meant selling his own house to get the cash.

In his letter, the owner stated, “There was no way in hell I was ever going to give up on this adorable lady, she is only a small baby, with a will to live and be happy with her big brother Rocky and the Feeleys.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to because of the generosity of strangers. Several people were motivated to give when he set up a GoFundMe account and shared Rambo’s tale.

Feeley was beyond pleased with the amount donated; as of the time of this writing, the campaign has raised over £25,000, more than tripling the original £10,000 target.

More better news was sent to Feeley: according to a February 4 update from him, Rambo’s condition finally allowed her to return home.

“During the last three days, Rambo has performed a miracle. Hour by hour, she has improved her oxygen use, began consuming food and liquids, and her lungs are gradually healing. We have also begun to notice the return of her adorable little personality. She established a schedule where she saw me for 10 minutes every 4 hours and even knew which area of the waiting room I was in.

Rambo and Feeley are now living together in their own house, and because of a nice stranger’s generosity, they will be able to pay for whatever medical care Rambo need.

No words can adequately describe my gratitude for everyone’s love, support, and generosity over the past two weeks. It really does mean more than you can possibly imagine,” he wrote.

It’s true that people will go to any lengths for their dogs, and this owner’s tenacity in trying to preserve his dog’s life was admirable.
