Entitled neighbors insist that the owners permit their children to use the pool.

Even if you’re a generous neighbor, a helpful coworker, or a trustworthy friend, you’ll still wind up being taken advantage of.

A man shared a tale of how he turned out to be the bad guy on Reddit.

He discovered the hard way that what began as a well-intentioned gesture turned into an unwelcome beacon of entitlement.

The tale started when he and his fiancée moved into a tiny neighborhood.
The modest neighborhood appeared good right away.

He also saw that there were many of children between the ages of 9 and 10.

The couple made the decision to purchase a pool after learning they were expecting a child.

They had no idea that this would spark a conflict with their neighbors.

They chose to purchase a pool.
He wrote in his article, “Last year, I had an above-ground pool installed, and the neighboring kids were extremely thrilled.”

As a kind neighbor, he decided to allow the youngsters use their facilities, but he did so with certain restrictions.

I informed them that dogs were not permitted in the pool since its liner was vulnerable to breaking. He revealed.

It appears to be a nice offer.

After all, the kids are free to use the pool. The man said he didn’t charge an admission fee, at least.

When they returned from their trip, though, everything was turned upside down.

This year, I let the kids use the pool while we were away. When we arrived back, I saw the water level was low and tried to refill it, he said in his article.
He discovered a “good-sized tear” on one side of the pool after further inspection, but he still had it restored.

The following day, the youngsters returned.
They questioned him about using the pool. The man declined and informed the children that the pool was closed because he was thinking about the rip he had repaired and the fact that their Labrador puppy was also with them.

One day, when he returned, he overheard his neighbors bickering with his fiance.

However, in an astonishing turn of events, the neighbors claimed that because he forbade them from using his pool, it was saddening their children.

The neighbors asked that he reopen the pool after he described what had happened to them rather than showing understanding.

Commenters sprang to his defense right away.
One of them even demanded that the man never again permit the children on his land, citing the “attractive nuisance” statute.

They said that given the response of their neighbors, they will certainly hold him legally responsible if something bad happens to the kids.

“NTA and this situation overall are insurance nightmares. Never ever, especially while you’re not home, allow anyone to use your pool. Another poster forewarned, “Your wonderful house and your great life will be gone. All it will take is one kid drowning. Install cameras and a pool cover after explaining that no one uses the pool any longer.
