Although this stray dog was terminally ill, Sophiane Nacer wanted to provide him with the finest death possible. She swore that the only way Hippo, an elderly stray with a tumor, would experience love was if he passed away.
Even if it was only for one day, Sophiane, the 19-year-old founder of Cayleba’s Kindred Senior Dog Rescue, told TODAY: “Hippo would have had the happiest last day of his life.” After five days in the shelter, Sophiane took Hippo under her wing and brought him home. The skin of the poor puppy was too soft to handle. Sophiane was unsure if Hippo would survive another day due to the excruciating discomfort.
But as soon as he seen his tail wagging, all of his doubts vanished. The sick canine was still hopeful. Before he left this world, he wished to know love and happiness. Sophiane therefore brought Hippo to Starbucks where she purchased for him a Puppuccino—a drink from the well-known chain’s secret menu that canines adore—and a cup of delectable whipped cream. Hippo was still happy the next day, so Sophiane took him to the dog park to play. He relished every second of it! However, he suddenly had a message for Sophiane.
The elderly dog, who was suffering yet hopeful, had something to say to his new best friend. He was all set to move. The time he had spent with Sophiane made him very pleased, yet he had to go since he was worn out and in pain. Sophiane brought a professional in euthanasia home after leaving the dog park. For her, the veterinarian had made fried chicken with sedatives. She ate her last dinner as comfortably as she could with Sophiane at her side and then drifted off into a long, painless sleep. This story is heartbreaking on many levels, yet it is also incredibly uplifting. Even if his life was brief, a dying dog who had only experienced suffering could nevertheless feel loved and cherished. May every dog exit this world knowing they are deeply loved!
