Domestic cats seek for prey like mice and birds much like wild cats do. Domestic cats are just different in that they like sharing their hunting with their owners. Ben, a cat owner, has previously encountered situations in which he had to turn down both live and dead things that Baloo, his cat, provided to him. Ben said to the Dodo, “She constantly seemed so lost and unhappy, which made me feel quite horrible. However, Baloo was quick to recognize Ben’s tastes, so after a few months, she decided to alter it up and start bringing home huge, nice-looking leaves, which Ben much loved. I would take the leaf and play with it as she sat on my chest as a token of my thanks because it was such a relief from having to deal with live mice every morning. Yet, Baloo appeared to stop looking for gifts for Ben after they recently moved to a less hunt-friendly home. This was more than Ben could have ever asked for.
