10-year-old Souparnika Nair walked onto the stage of Britain’s Got Talent looking very shy and visibly nervous. No one in the audience could have imagined that just a few minutes later, this audition would become one of the most talked-about moments of the entire season.
The young girl began performing the classic song “The Trolley Song,” but suddenly Simon Cowell raised his hand and stopped the music right in the middle of her performance. A tense silence filled the theater, and Souparnika looked as if she was about to burst into tears from fear.
Simon explained that the problem was not her at all, but the song choice, which did not allow her to show the true power of her voice. He then asked if she had another song prepared, and the girl, gathering all her courage, chose the incredibly difficult ballad “Never Enough” from the movie The Greatest Showman.
At that very moment, the atmosphere in the theater completely changed. From the very first notes, it became clear that standing before the judges was not a timid schoolgirl anymore, but a truly powerful vocalist with stunning control over her voice and unbelievably strong high notes.
By the end of the song, the entire audience rose to their feet and gave Souparnika a standing ovation. The judges were amazed by how she managed to turn an almost failed audition into a true triumph, and David Walliams declared that she had just conquered a huge musical mountain.
