There were nearly all of the passengers on board. People were rushing to find their seats, putting their things in the overhead bins. As soon as a man in a gray T-shirt sat down along the aisle, it became evident that there wasn’t enough room for him.
His girth partially blocked the aisle for other passengers and caused discomfort to the individual occupying the middle seat. Others mumbled softly, while others shot sidelong glances.
After giving the ticket a startled glance, the flight attendant nodded, thanked him for his patience, and proceeded to clear up the confusion. After a few minutes, the man’s seat next to him was free, so he quietly occupied both chairs without bothering anyone.
Additionally, there was an abrupt peaceful silence—and even a sense of respect—in the cabin, where tension had been there only moments before. Someone gave a nod of approval.
“That was class,” someone muttered to their neighbor. On board, often the most surprising things you see are kindness and foresight.
